My Project

This school year is off to a successful scientific start. Students are having a blast learning numerous science concepts through reading. This is new for all of us, but we are still learning and remaining engaged.

In an effort to continuously teach reading standards such as main idea, informational texts, vocabulary, Greek/Latin roots, prefixes/suffixes and numerous other reading standards we are in need of science texts.

The books that we are in need of focus on all Georgia Science standards. We are able to kill two birds in one stone.

While reading these picture books aloud each day it allows students to receive not only reading standards through informational texts, but also learning standards based science instruction. Our rotations move extremely fast and 90 minutes doesn't allow much time to get all standards and concepts in. Integrating these texts into our reading block will help tremendously on a day to day basis. Students will be able to grasp scientific concepts at a faster pace and have additional resources in the classroom library to refer back to once we move on to a new standard.
