This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, we focus on becoming better individuals by working together. I encourage my students to tackle each day and each lesson in teams. We celebrate the learning gains we make. We use our failures as opportunities to learn. We believe mistakes are proof that we are trying.

The students in my room face challenges at home and in the classroom.

School is a place where children can feel free to express themselves, ask questions and learn about the world around them.

My Project

I've been teaching fourth grade for 4 years now and multiplication fluency is a struggle each year. The mathematics curriculum in fourth grade relies heavily on students being fluent in their multiplication facts. We've done flashcards, speed drills, and use computer sites to help students gain proficiency. However, it continues to be a challenge for many of our students.

This year I want to do a year long push to make my students multiplication masters!

The supplies this project will provide will allow me to create multiple game centers for students to practice and learn their facts. The supplies are also multiuse, meaning they will help students this year and for years to come.

The games I have chosen can be either independent or collaborative center activities. Students learn best when they are engaged and having fun. I have also included charts to track student progress, so students can see how they are becoming multiplication masters visually. Please help me make this a reality for my classroom.
