My Students

Have you ever been stuck indoors for recess on rainy days? It's not the ideal situation for students that want to move, wiggle, jiggle, shake, rattle and roll. I hope to provide students with brain breaks, fitness and dance programs, and music to promote health on these rainy days.

In an ever changing world, especially in the area of technology, it is imperative that students are immersed in a 21st century classroom as well as be exposed to as many technology devices as possible.

Technology gives students the opportunity to Mac their dreams come true. I am fortunate enough to teach in a 5th grade class of 22 Talented and Gifted students. Most of the Gifted students in my classroom have goals focused in the areas of Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking and Research and Technology. So many technology pieces can be incorporated into our learning day that can enhance instruction. I believe every child, not just Gifted learners, should benefit from being able to use various technology pieces/devices to enrich his/her education, especially when we are unable to be active outdoors on days without recess.

My Project

I believe my students would benefit from being able to merge the technology and movement to help promote a healthy brain and lifestyle. Many of these students have never been exposed to Mac products and I believe they would be able to make iMovies for our class and possibly even other classes in our school. The Mac would give them all the tools to design and implement different strategies and concepts dealing with health. The Mac could be used for reading, researching, planning, and completing tasks, fitness programs, and health education in the class. Students will be able to explore, create, and learn by using the Mac. It will be incorporated into just about anything that we are working on, and most importantly, it will help the students be engaged and be enthusiastic about what they are learning and doing. After all, they are digital citizens.

Having a Mac in our classroom will help the students learn to use technology and resource/research skills to be critical thinkers and learners.

They will be sharing a laptop to promote teamwork, healthy lifestyles, problem solving, social and physical skill development while MACing their dreams come true.
