Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from an inner city. We are a title one school, which means that 98% of our children are on free and reduced lunch. The majority of my students are ESOL, so English is not their first language. I also have a few ESE (exceptional student education), who are visual and tactile learners.

My third grade class is a diverse group of students who are excited to learn in a welcoming environment.

This school year, I am fortunate to teach 45 effervescent students.

My Project

I currently have an outdated Macbook Pro. It is my go to instructional tool. I use it on a daily basis to deliver rich and engaging lessons to my students. It is also use by students to work on projects, view videos, and practice their math fluency. However, after seven years of use, it now has a cracked screen, works slowly, and the sound is muffled. Due to the crack screen students can no longer use it. As a result it is no longer an effective instructional tool.

We need a new Macbook Air that will reignite students interest.

It will allow my students and I the ability to access the Internet in the classroom and utilize digital math resources. I can also hook the MacBook Air to our promethean board to project lessons, videos, and interactive websites. Students can work on computer programs that gears towards their learning style and targets their individual abilities. I can once again make math fun and connect to the digital world.
