Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is the focal point of our community. Parents are involved, students are eager to learn, and the staff loves coming to work each day. Our school is located in the heart of Richmondtown. It welcomes students from New Dorp, Oakwood, Richmondtown, and Lighthouse Hill. We are a blended learning/hybrid model due to the pandemic. Most classes are ICT (Integrated Co Teaching) which means two teachers (one general education and one special education) in this classroom.

My Project

Learning about earning and spending money is my goal for this project. I would love to give my students a classroom store as an incentive. Students will have the opportunity to earn coins throughout the week for positive behaviors. Using a MacBook laptop I will be able to help them track their spending and display it on the smart board.

This is an excellent tool for financial literacy and will help lead my 5th graders on the road to success while preparing them for the real world.

My students will have to make real-life decisions based on the money I provide to them to choose which items to purchase from our store.
