This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we serve a diverse group of newcomers, including a small but significant group of Asian students, who comprise less than 5% of our total enrollment. As the host of the Asian club, I am deeply inspired by these students' resilience and cultural richness. Our upcoming Lunar New Year celebration represents more than just a festive occasion; it's a meaningful opportunity for these students to connect with their roots and share their heritage, creating an inclusive space for all to learn about and engage with this important cultural tradition.

Our goal is twofold: to empower our Asian students to represent their heritage proudly and to broaden all students' perspectives, cultivating global citizens who respect and celebrate diversity.

This guiding principle, "In diversity, there is beauty and strength," is the cornerstone of our Lunar New Year project. To bring this vision to life, we are seeking resources for decorative supplies and cultural snacks to create a festive, culturally immersive environment, educational materials to share Lunar New Year traditions, cultural games like Lego constructions, traditional Chinese folk games, music performance and paper cutting craft for hands-on learning, and a screening of "I Am What I am" . These resources are not just educational tools; they represent a vital link to our students' identities, encouraging pride and a sense of belonging.

By supporting this project, you're contributing to more than just a celebration. You're helping to shape confident, culturally aware individuals who value the rich tapestry of our global society. Your support will enhance students' communication and organizational skills and deepen their self and cultural understanding.
