Lunar New Year Chef

Help me give my students a slow cooker and red craft supplies so they can prepare authentic Chinese dishes to learn and celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.

My Project

My students will have an opportunity to examine Chinese culture. We will also learn about the country and its rich foods. As a group, we will also know how the Chinese New Year has affected American culture. One cultural experience we will explore in-depth is the Lunar New Year. This is an excellent opportunity to teach my students about the Chinese tradition that celebrates life. The slow cooker and mandarin oranges will help guide the students through the history of this festival while preparing Chinese meals and learning basic Chinese vocabulary. These items will be used to make and teach the students about traditional food surrounding this tradition. In the end, students will create their food with a short essay about critical ideas they've learned about the Chinese Lunar New Year. Students will use the bowls to eat the food from.

Students will create their healthy Chinese foods, then draft short essays and crafts using key ideas they've learned about the Chinese Lunar New Yew.

Lastly, students will learn that no matter how it is defined, culture gives people a sense of who they are.
