Loving Literacy

My students need a listening library and other books on CD. This will increase their reading skills and comprehension skills. My students will develop a love for reading.

My Students

My students come from all walks of life. We live in a small rural community that does not have a public library. Many students who enter my classroom don't have books at home that they can read, nor have they had access to books that read to them. Most of these students do not have the privilege of parents reading to them nightly.

Although they have some adverse circumstances to overcome, I am sure they will be successful in my classroom and they will be hard little workers.

They will develop the love of reading in my classroom and carry this love over for generations to come.

My Project

This project will provide much need books in my classroom, so that my students will have the ability to listen to books not only read by me, but read to them by others. These books will benefit my students and build upon their love of reading which will help them to become life long learners.

With a large selection of books, my students will have many different genres to choose from and these books will offer many different choices to my students.

We will spend a lot of time during literacy instruction reading in my classroom and we will need many books available for all students to be able to find the book that brings them to the pivotal moment in life where they gain all of the reading skills necessary.

The audio books in this project will add to our literacy block the ability to listen to books while following along with the book. This is a crucial piece of literacy and another way for my students to develop their love for literacy.
