Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine being able to work at your own pace and at a level you feel comfortable with. That's what our classroom centers accomplish.

My students are a group of gifted students.

They range in level from first to fifth grade. Our school is a Title I inner city school. The families work hard just to make ends meet and extras are hard to come by. These students are super bright and need a chance and opportunity to shine.

My Project

These resources will be used to make literacy centers in the classroom. I am requesting a management chart so they know what center to go to at all times, also some caddies and bins to organize the materials they need in their centers. The students will be able to use the write and wipe pockets to practice annotation and handwriting. They will be able to publish their writing by printing it with the ink I requested. The students will be working on Common Core strategies at their own pace while I meet with a group. That's why I requested the nonfiction books. Students will be able to read about things that happen in the real world and make connections. This will allow the students to become independent thinkers and accomplish a greater amount of their goals.

I like to make my classroom a safe place for the students to feel comfortable in.

They need a routine and need to know what is expected. These donations will help the students feel secure in their centers and they will know what to expect on a daily basis. It will help the students stay organized, actually get to publish their work because we'll have ink, and practice making connections between the nonfiction text that they read and themselves.
