Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school, where students are able to receive free lunch and breakfast. My school consists of almost 2,000 students, many who speak various languages. While language may be a challenge, a major challenge many learners face; despite their background is reading.

Reading comprehension is key to succeeding academically in all areas.

However, you cannot tackle the task of comprehension if reading itself is the issue. Decoding and learning the fundamentals of the English language is not an easy task, especially if you’re in middle school where the basics are no longer the main focus.

My Project

These materials will help students improve their reading, decoding and comprehension skills, which is essential in becoming independent and successful learners. Students will receive their own kits along with small group instruction while following this program. The Wilson Reading Program has been around for years and it is time for my students to benefit from it! Students will increase their phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension and more! Students will be able to use a fun, multi sensory approach in becoming successful in literacy now and for the rest of their lives!
