My Project

With the upcoming school year, our district has taken on an amazing new curriculum for literacy. With this change comes a need for materials to support deeper learning in conjunction with the new curriculum and the science of reading research. These materials will help our littlest learners develop a love of literacy.

Research shows children need ample opportunities to practice new spelling patterns and words as they are learning to decode these words as well as explicit instruction in how to pronounce sounds in our language and match those with spelling patterns.

One of the best ways to learn is with small groups. In small groups, we will do a lot of word work and the magnetic/dry erase boards and work mats are perfect for this work. The easel is also an essential key to instruction at the small group level. The small mirrors draw attention to the way our mouth moves to form specific sounds. The dry erase paddles, sleeves, erasers, and pens are essential to whole group practice time with phonics. Having these resources ready and able to hand out at the carpet is essential to learning outcomes being achieved. The blending board and racetrack are engaging ways to practice phonics and phnoemic awarenss. Students will also have time to work in a writing center and these journals are perfect tools which will be keepsakes and will capture the pictures and words written by our newest authors.

Please help bring a love of learning to some of our earliest learners. Some of the children I teach will not have had access to learning with these types of tools.These will support learners of all languages and cultural backgrounds. we serve. Thank you for supporting our scholars!
