My Project

I love watching my students fall in love with reading. "There's no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books." -James Patterson

I am building my classroom library to have a larger selection of interesting books available to my students.

During our fifteen minute read aloud, I read books that often belong to a set. The kids love the book so much that they can't wait to read the next one, or will beg me to read book two for my next read aloud. I want to have a larger selection of books that my students want to read. My goal is to inspire them to want to read instead only reading because it's an assignment. I want them to discover that sometimes you don't want to put the book down, or you can't wait until you have time to pick it back up.

Students who love to read will benefit greatly throughout their whole lives. Reading helps expand vocabularies, helps with memory skills and improves concentration. It also develops critical and analytical skills and can build self esteem. My students have worked really hard this year, and have developed a better relationship with reading. Adding books to our classroom library would mean the world to them.

Ms. Fink will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 6.
