Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an eager, resilient, and hard working bunch of fifth graders. They enjoy being challenged with the appropriate support and resources. They are inspiring to watch, as they take charge of their learning and support one another. My students look forward to coming to school everyday, working alongside peers and teachers to overcome challenges. These wonderful children deserve to come to a learning community that is equipped with high interest and meaningful materials. They deserve equal access to resources that will encourage a love of literacy.

My Project

These texts would be used in guided reading and small group instruction. Guided reading and small group work is a favorite time of the day in our classroom. Students feel comfortable and confident to let their voices be heard.This is the perfect time to share with students engaging texts that will encourage them to grow their thinking. Students will be able to read, interpret and discuss high interest texts. These texts provide opportunities for higher order thinking in which students will be able to discuss and develop ideas with peers and in writing. We can promote a love for literacy by providing rich literature to our students.
