Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is made up of diligent, inspiring, and creative fourth graders with big hearts and analytical minds. They attend school every day with purpose and a desire to learn something new, to discuss what they think, and take pride in their efforts. My students learn in a bilingual community with a high level of family support. They attend our school with growing technology opportunities that enhance their approach, application, and articulation of their knowledge and their new learning. We balance this with many opportunities to develop creativity and physical fitness through sports. We support the development of persistence, teamwork, and determination.

My Project

Students have diverse experiences in learning how to read. As they do this, they develop different attitudes about reading in school. We will set up a comfortable and engaging reading lounge and meeting area for students with the goal of providing positive experiences with reading.

Helping students establish positive reading habits early in their lives is critical in a person's educational journey and beyond.

It gives them the confidence and desire to engage in reading, thinking, and interacting with others. I would love to continue to find ways for students to look forward to lounging with a good book so that they can establish strong habits and enjoy meeting with peers to discuss various readings. This sectional set and area rug will serve as a perfect place for students to do this.
