Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an enthusiastic group of first graders. I teach a group of first-graders who love learning and going to school. If you were to ask my students what their favorite subject is, you would get a wide range of answers including math, reading, social studies, science, and art.

Our school is very small but diverse.

We not only have many regular education classes but also have three special education classes. Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free lunch. Most of my first graders are Limited English Proficient.

My Project

These books will help my students fill the void of not being in class listening to me read aloud to them. I was unable to bring my library home with me, so we need some fun and exciting fictional read aloud stories. Read aloud is one of the greatest ways to pass on a love for literature.

These books will help clear our minds while we are all being separated during this pandemic.

I will be able to read these stories during our daily Google Meets and assign fun and engaging activities to go along with the stories. I will also have a variety of holiday read aloud books to share with my class to create a fun and spirited atmosphere for our reading time.
