My Students

I am fortunate to teach in an inclusive early childhood special education program. My class is composed of 3, 4 and 5 year-olds with and without a variety of special needs.

Together we discover that we all have something to contribute and something to learn.

Diversity is a strength. Together we have an opportunity to be more self-aware, more open-minded, and more compassionate.

I strive to have my students' first school experience be positive, engaging, and play-filled. I aim to create a classroom where social emotional skills are emphasized and practiced.

My Project

Loose parts are learning materials that are open ended. They are not intended for just one purpose. Loose parts with use of imagination can be anything. These loose parts will encourage my students to think and play more creatively. For instance, a wooden spool can be beaded to make a necklace, it can be a bale of hay to feed a toy horse, or it can be a booster to a rocket ship. I look forward to receiving these loose parts and witnessing what my students will imagine them to be.
