My Students

I teach junior high Social Studies and Science in a small rural district in southwest Mississippi. We do a lot of reading and writing, drawing and graphing of data, and diagramming information on our dry erase board. We have a nice board but it does get build-up from all the use.

What we need most is a good supply of cleaning wipes to keep our dry erase board in good shape.

The students enjoy coming to the board to work problems, graph out their data, draw political cartoons to illustrate a point, or outline their study guides. They enjoy showing off their knowledge to their classmates. After a week or so of this, the board begins to show the wear and tear. It needs a good cleaning, and if the proper cleaner isn't used on a dry erase board, it messes up the finish. This, in turn, causes more buildup. It is a vicious circle.

My Project

We could also use some mechanical pencils and refill leads. With all the writing we do, the pencils run out at the most inopportune times. Having some pencils on hand and replacement leads for when the "well runs dry" can ensure that class continues without interruption even when faced with difficult situations such as running out of lead.

Nothing extraordinary. Just looking for some of those (sing with me now) "bare necessities, the simple bare necessities..." Thank you in advance for your consideration of my request.
