Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I currently work with students from grades 4th- 6th Grade. I see them for reading intervention at least twice a week. Sometimes they come to class and have a difficult time getting ready for the days lesson. I want to provide them a space that they can go to until they are ready to join our group. The items I have requested will be utilized by children of at various grade levels. There are very few spaces on campus our kids can just go and relax and think about how they are feeling. The fidget toys, sensory bottles, pillows, and water beads will provide students with an opportunity to let out any nervous energy. The posters, charts, lava lamps and moon lights will provide a calm environment where they can identify their emotions so that they can better manage them. My goal for this project is to provide a safe space for our kids. A space that is calming and stress-free. There a many reasons my students are special, but specifically, they are resilient and they have the drive to do well in school in spite of their circumstances.
