Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is located in a large, urban city with a diverse population. Many of my students come from single-parent families or from families where both parents work long hours to support their families. Most of my students come from homes where English is not the only language spoken, and many have come to us from other countries. Sadly, some students live in temporary housing situations and often lack basic hygiene supplies.
This project will help restock our emergency student supply closet with items like shampoo, soap, deodorant, and feminine products.
Students can visit the closet anytime they need hygiene supplies so they are at their best for the day. We will also have bags available for them to place the items in so they aren't embarrassed in front of their classmates. Middle school students are very self-conscious when it comes to personal appearance and hygiene, having these supplies available no questions asked will make a difficult situation a bit better.
