Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students range from grades one to five and consists of one hundred students. These students typically are in our program from 2:15-6:00 pm and on early days 12:00-6:00pm. During this time, our program has many different rotations that help enrich our students' education. Our program for some students is their only opportunity to finish their homework, have computer access for homework and a chance to have a healthy snack after school. We are looking to enrich our program and bring in materials that will not only help us as educators, but help our students make better progress in education.

My Project

In a world full of selfies, photography is a lost art. When we talk about photography, our kiddos automatically think about cell phone photography, so we thought it would be a great idea to introduce digital cameras.

With this project, we will be teaching the kids to not only respect the cameras, but to respect and appreciate their environment and the details around them.

This will teach them to look at the beauty in all things and see ordinary objects from different perspectives. One of KLAS's goals is to provide children with enrichment opportunities that they might not experience outside of this program.
