This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my urban third grade classroom this school year represent a very diverse population, many speak English as a second or third language. Breakfast and lunch are provided free to all students every day. The students are an incredible group of young people who are working hard to make a positive difference not only in their own futures but the future of our community as well.
Their experiences and expertise that they bring to the classroom sparks conversations far beyond that of the teacher centered classroom.
They have amazing strengths and lift each other higher through their strong character education traits. Sharing their authentic work through the use of a document camera will merge the use of technology with the personalization of their handwritten artifacts allowing for even more powerful connections.
My Project
Children love seeing their work on display! They feel proud, special, and confident seeing their drawings, writings, problem solving strategies, and art work around the classroom. It is truly a sense of accomplishment when publishing their works of heART.
Students today are the center of the classroom.
They are the driving forces behind every decision being made by their class community. The power of seeing their finished projects can be exemplified by being able to see their authentic thinking and problem solving displayed each step of the way. An iPevo document camera allows for the student's work to be displayed in live time on the big screen!
Being able to see and discuss student misconceptions through the use of the "My Favorite Wrong" activity or "Grammar COPS" activity can be more powerful than seeing only accurate responses. It is amazing to see children being able to find the good in every example rather than only focusing on the fact that a mistake was made. It helps the children improve their own thinking making the completion process during future assignments more accessible.
