My Project

Covid-19 has impacted our students in multiple ways. One of the most obvious impacts I have seen in Math is a severe lack of critical thinking skills. Students being out of the classroom during the initial outbreak of Covid-19, or in the classroom but not interacting with peers, created a disconnect for a majority of students. When students are gaining a foundational understanding of numbers, they use manipulatives and communicate socially with peers. Many of our students missed out on that. Due to this, I have seen my students demonstrate a lack of mental math skills, an inability to think outside the box, and a distressingly low ability to work through understanding a problem.

The logic games and materials I am requesting will help fill the Covid-19 gap in critical thinking skills by allowing students to work cooperatively with others in a fun format while accessing the logical, mathematical side of the brain.
