Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Seven teachers full of ideas and energy, we cannot wait to come to school everyday to help our Kindergarten students learn and grow. Yet, we have a major setback, and that is we need a printer to help make our grade and students even better.

Kindergarten is now mandatory, and boy does that mean we have a lot of students from all different walks of life!

Our students are high-energy, full of life, and ready to learn. We are now in our second month of the school year and we have students writing sentences, and reading stories like Little Red Riding Hood by heart. Our classrooms are filled with 25 students each, and all from a high-needs area. We have students from all ethnicities, and many of them are English Language Learners. Our students come to school everyday with smiles and are genuinely happy to be here.

My Project

A printer comes hand in hand with a computer, however, we are lacking it. We do many collaborative projects and meetings, and although we talk about these great ideas, many times they get thrown away because of our lack of a printer and resources. We talked about making mix and match rhyming picture cards, clapping out syllables using pictures and words, and matching lowercase letters to capital letters centers. Our Kindergarten students are ready to take on the world and in order to help foster that independence and motivation, we as teachers need this printer to help with centers, small group instruction, books, and data planning. We hope to use this printer on an everyday level not for mass copying, but for those moments when an idea surfaces of a great way to reach the kids, and we need that multi-function printer to help produce it.

This printer will live on in Kindergarten forever.

It will be a staple for many Kindergarten students to come. With this one printer, you will be touching over 200 students lives this year, and continue to do the same for many, many years. It will help grow successful students by helping make our teaching effective.
