Livingroom Library

Help me give my students a new classroom library. The students not only use this as a quiet reading space but for group projects and tutoring times.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Many researchers explain how important it is for students to have breaks within the class time. Studies also should that a student learns and grows in environments that they feel most comfortable in. I want my class to be that place for my students. This library will provide them with a before, during and after space that looks like home but is the peace they may not have there.

Reading is not a fan favorite for middle schoolers but when they are in a place of peace they do not mind opening up their minds to what books hold.

I was been lucky to have received so many great books but now they need a home and a place that matches how wonderful they are.

Students will be able to relax on the rugs and the pillows to enjoy their books. I will also be able to provide cold snacks to students that come in for tutoring. A safe place to enjoy the wonders books hold will be the Livingroom Library.
