Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is magical being a high school environmental science teacher! All students are curious. I just expose them to enough science labs and activities to make them curious about science! Much learning in high school is stale and driven by teachers that don't quite meet the students where they best learn. I've found that labs (whether building solar energy cars, growing flowers and vegetables, extracting DNA from strawberries, or testing dissolved oxygen from a local lake) drive learning from all students! Labs (and the items that I am requesting here) make students appreciate the living world and realize that trees, etc. are equally, if not, more important than smartphones.

My goals for this project are to teach: (1) predator/prey relationships (2) aquatic animal behavior (3) land animal behavior (4) plant growth/photosynthesis (4) transfer of energy (5) solar energy and (6) invasive species

Every student that walks through my classroom door is special and a gift. I see many students in our community (long after they have graduated) and they all remember my class, me and the labs we do, THANKS TO YOU!!!!!!
