Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students see plants growing but need the materials to investigate habitats for themselves.

Our students are teenagers from all over the city.

The one common factor that most share is a disconnect from the natural environment. Our school helps to foster an understanding of the world through hands-on learning whether at an internship or through experiments and investigations in class.

My Project

We need basic materials to bring life into the classroom. They will be able to make observations of plants in the terrestrial environment and test the affect of fertilizer and pH through hydroponics experiments. The plants will be shared with other classrooms and we can take cuttings from them to increase our plant stock.

Students will experience growing plants and investigating how to do so successfully.

This is something they will remember and use for the rest of their lives. Students will develop many skills including observation, data collection, presentation skills and horticultural skills.
