Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Welcome to Kindergarten! My circa 1957 classroom smells of paint and paste. There is an audible hum of little minds busy at work. My 32 wonderful students represent several cultures and many are learning English as a second language. The school is located in a low income area outside a large city. Many of my students are in the midst of having their first school experience.

I would like materials that will help me to individualize instruction in language arts, specifically in learning letters and sounds. By creating a child centered Kindergarten environment where risk taking is encouraged I can offer my students challenges that are especially theirs to work through and learn from. Exciting materials benefit all my students.

My plan is to create an alphabet center that students will use independently or in small groups. Students will have access to puzzles and games that will build on their prior knowledge and challenge them to learn more.

With your help I can create a successful Alphabet Center in my classroom. By helping students achieve success early in their school career we create a culture of perseverance, excellence and high expectations that stays with our children throughout their lives. Thank You for your support.
