Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Students:

My preschoolers are incredible, curious, and full of wonder!

They are also exceptional learners, each with unique strengths, needs, and ways of experiencing the world. Some of my students have developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, or speech and language needs, but no matter their challenges, they are eager to explore, create, and grow.

Hands-on learning is essential for my students, as they thrive when engaging with their environment through touch, movement, and sensory experiences. A classroom garden will provide the perfect opportunity for them to develop fine motor skills, social-emotional growth, and scientific thinking—all while having fun and connecting with nature!

I am requesting child-friendly gardening tools, seeds, watering cans, gloves, sensory-friendly plant options, trellis and some activities to extend the learning into the classroom. With these items, we can join the rest of the school to create an interactive and accessible gardening space for my special education preschoolers.

With these resources, my students will:

Engage their senses—feeling the soil, smelling herbs, and watching plants grow

Strengthen fine motor skills by digging, planting, and watering Build language and communication as they describe what they see and feel

Learn cause and effect—understanding that their care helps plants grow

Develop patience and responsibility by nurturing their plants daily

Explore healthy eating habits through growing vegetables and herbs

Through this project, I want to:

Create an inclusive, hands-on learning environment for all students

Support language development through real-world experiences

Provide a sensory-friendly activity that encourages exploration and self-regulation

Foster teamwork and social-emotional growth through shared responsibilities

By supporting this initiative, you are giving my students the opportunity to dig into learning, gain confidence, and grow—both as gardeners and as learners! Thank you for believing in my little sprouts!
