This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Pre-K students study many sorts of science throughout the school year.
Animals and life sciences are of particular interest to young children, so we try to discover a lot about animals and habitats. We are also very lucky to have a partnership with the local science museum and students get a chance to visit at least once a year.
I am requesting science materials that will be housed in our classroom and not in the museum. For example, I would like my students to be able to handle books about sea animals, look at models of sea animals and touch safe specimens of sea animals.
These items are difficult to acquire for a classroom library, yet they greatly enhance understanding for students who learn best through hands-on experiences.
Thank you for considering funding my request. Children love to learn about real-life things, and science materials are important to their curiosity about our world, if if you choose to fund this project, you can be assured that the materials will be well-used by little hands in our Pre-K!
