I teach 4th grade in a charter school where the student population is 95% African-American and 5% Hispanic. Most of my student come from low-income families.

With all the emphasis on testing, science often gets pushed into the background. Most of my students have barely ever done a science experiment themselves, so they don't know the experience of finding answers and coming up with new questions. They can't connect the information in their textbook to real life. I have no science materials to offer them, and it gets so expensive to go out on my own to buy things, that I often can't afford it.

The amazing "Lab on Wheels" kit that I am requesting would enable me to show my children how the world works. The kit includes all sorts of science equipment such as beakers, scales, magnifying glasses, thermometers, droppers, magnets, and so much more! With these materials, I could prove concepts to them in an instant. I could empower their thirst for knowledge and their fascination with their world by giving them the opportunity to find answers to challenging problems. This kit would be a unique gift for them, one I know would make a lasting impression.

Please help change the course of my children's 4th grade year. Help them discover their world with their own hands.
