My Students

The loving students that I work with attend school in an urban setting.

I work in multiple Special Education Co-Teach classrooms in the primary grades as the special education teacher.

In the morning the student's smiling faces are what we see when we walk in the door. They are very eager to learn, and learn best doing hands on activities and using manipulatives. They look forward to fun learning experiences every day. These students are an exciting group with mixed interests, abilities, and goals.

My Project

Learning to read is not easy for young students. In class, we teach phonics skills to help students learn to decode unfamiliar words such as the different sounds vowels make. It is important for students to practice the skill taught in words, phrases, and in books.

The books in this project will help students improve their reading skills to become successful readers.

The phonics and word family readers contain basic sight words and words that a child can sound out to read the story independently. The books can be practiced in class and taken home to read with their families to help build their confidence and improve their reading skills.
