Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Fall into reading! I am currently teaching in an inclusion Kindergarten class. There are general education students and students with special needs. The school is located in a low income community and the children have many obstacles to overcome.

One of the obstacles my students are faced with is reading. Some of the students in the class can not even recognize their own name. Most don't know the letters or their sounds. For some, Kindergarten is their first school experience.

The resources that I need are books on tape for my listening center. Having the books on tape will help increase my student's enthusiasm for books. The books on tape will allow the students to follow along as the text is being narrated, increase their word base and allow them to be more independent.

Your help will ensure that my students will be exposed to literature and gain a love for books. You will make it possible for my students to become independent readers, increase their vocabulary and become enthusiastic about reading!
