My Project

All preschool children are learning to control their bodies and emotions, but sometimes big emotions can be hard to handle. We use strategies from Conscious Discipline to support children in meeting our expectations to be safe, respectful, and responsible in the classroom. These strategies focus on building predictable routines and strong relationships within our “school family”, modeling empathy, and teaching children appropriate ways to manage their emotions, so they can make positive choices that are kind to themselves and others.

Our students are learning how to navigate and regulate their emotions and having a comfortable and quiet place to go is essential.

Creating a space where students can safely express how they feel is important. Even more so is helping them learn how to self-regulate when they feel frustrated and upset. I am excited to see how these materials and tools will accomplish self-regulation.
