My Project

My little ones are full of energy and emotions that they are learning how they affect themselves and others. I enjoy being their first teacher. I give my students a foundation to start their educational journey. READY SET LEARN THROUGH PLAY!

The cozy corner is a place in my classroom where my students can go to explore their emotions.

When they are experiencing strong emotions there are toys, activities, and steps they can use to help them explore their feelings. The calm down cubes are an example of a great tool to use to assist them to describe how they feel and give them ideas to help them when emotions occur.

With help, my students will be able to put words to how they feel and find the tools to help them express their emotions positively. Each item on my list can be used to help with either labeling a feeling or giving them an alternative to districtive behavior. Having choices and alternatives is an important key to growth of knowing yourself and having a sense of control when you feel uncomfortable or upset. Children learn differently therefore they sometimes seek comfort and calmness differently. One student may wish to squeeze an item and be alone. While another student may find comfort in making something or spelling out the emotion word with their peers. The items on my list will help out with each of these students.

For a minute take the time to think about what you do to express your emotions. Someone or something gave you the tools to understand yourself and the emotions you express. I wish that for my students. I want to give them choices and opportunities to find what helps them and give them the words to express their feelings.
