This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my kindergartners to be independent in their learning through center time. I want them to have access to fun, engaging centers to extend what we have been learning. I work with English Language Learners and center time will give them an opportunity to have conversation with their peers.

My students are comprised of English Language Learners and Special Education Kindergarten students.

They are eager to learn but lack the confidence to do so. I find that many of my students are quiet and shy when they come to school for the very first time. They are intimidated by the English language. My school is a inner city school located in a low-income area. As a school, we have made many steps to create a place where students and parents feel comfortable and considering the obstacles they face in their community. The staff in our school is passionate about giving our students the same opportunities as any other student.

My Project

The color printer will be used to make math and literacy centers for the students to extend their learning and show what they know or don't know. They will be able to work alone or with a partner. It is a positive time for them to learn to work independently and be responsible for their learning. It will also allow for an opportunity for socialization and discussion which will aide my students to work on their speaking and listening skills.

This donation will bring so much more to our classroom.

My kindergartners need to have access to fun and engaging materials for them to feel that learning in fun. Once they figure out that learning is fun, they will stay motivated. I want them to be excited when new centers are introduced and allow their little brains to grow and grow.
