This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have little minds with big intentions! They are excited and eager to learn. Hands on experiences are the best way children remember what they have learned. My special needs children will be able to experience the same as the rest of the students by providing them with these materials.

I teach kindergarten inclusion in a K-8 center.

My students range from 5-6 years in age. My class has 18 students, 2 which are diagnosed with cerebral palsy and are in a wheelchair and several that have a learning disability. Since they are in kindergarten, they need a positive and hands on experience, so that they will remember the concepts easier. My class does not have most of the materials or equipment to help facilitate their learning.

My Project

I strongly believe that using manipulatives for a hands-on experiences will help learning. Materials including math manipulatives, reading and phonics skills learning centers, and 2 mini iPads will help all types of students, including visual learners and the kinesthetic learners. These materials will help kindergarten students including students with disabilities grasp the learning concepts easier. The students will be able to use letter tracing cards, tactile activities, etc. to facilitate their learning. Two mini iPads and keyboard will facilitate students with little or no motor skills to be able to show what they know without spending so much time putting it on paper and alleviate frustration. All of these materials will facilitate in differentiated instruction and small group settings.

The donations included are hands-on fun, math manipulatives, reading and phonics skills learning centers, supplies for special needs students, two iPads, books on tape and other small group activities.

I strongly believe that using these materials will help engage all types of learners. The students with disabilities will be able to participate in a regular classroom setting. These donations will encourage young learners and students with disabilities by facilitating their learning.
