My Project

Around the country, folks within the LGBTQ+ community are being sidelined and discriminated against. Even in "liberal" states, students who are discovering their gender and sexual identities have to navigate complicated decisions about who to talk to, and how to find out more information about what they're experiencing.

Books can provide windows into experiences and vocabulary for students to learn how to express themselves.

I've already begun constructing an LGBTQ+ themed library in my classroom that students can pull books from and borrow, but I need to collect more books to hopefully capture more of a broad set of experiences for students. I've sourced the list of books from a variety of LGBTQ+ and racial justice organizations to give a wider variety of books with a wider variety of LGBTQ+ and intersectional themes.
