My Students

My seven students are curious, fun, sweet, and persevering learners. They all are diagnosed with moderate to severe learning disabilities performing significantly below their age level. They have very high needs and need a lot of support in the classroom to complete various tasks throughout the day. Despite having many challenges, my students work hard at succeeding and they never give up. Each student has unique qualities and skills and we are all working towards becoming independent and kind individuals in our community.

My Project

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my students have been learning in-person and remotely from their homes. Our school has been closed multiple times and we have transitioned to remote learning for the time being. Due to their disabilities, my students demonstrate difficulties with attending, focusing, and participating during remote instruction. They need a lot of support at home while engaging in remote learning.

To support students learning remotely, they must have access to basic school supplies and materials.

Most of my students are from low-income families that need extra support in purchasing basic school supplies such as paper, arts and crafts items, sensory toys, math manipulatives, and writing supplies. The items in this project will provide students the essential tools and materials they need to participate during our remote instruction. The sensory toys will help give students the sensory input they need during remote instruction. Using sensory toys also helps students attend and focus better during remote learning. The tweezers in this list will allow my students to develop better fine motor skills when participating in a math, literacy, or arts and crafts lesson during remote teaching. My students need writing materials, construction paper, arts and crafts materials, math manipulatives, and sensory items to help facilitate their learning at home.
