I have 18 Pre-K students in my class. My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities, many being English language learners. Many of these students need hands-on materials and visuals to understand and learn better. My students come in every morning eager to learn new things. They are all so unique and individual in their own way, each contributing something special to our class.
Our Pre-K class is a special place where little things mean a lot.
We are not just a class but a family. My students do not just learn academically but socially, too. It may be difficult for four year olds to learn proper social skills but not in this classroom. These children have all learned how to be good friends, how to care for others, how to show respect, how to communicate feelings the right way, and most importantly how to be kind. My goal is to provide all students with multiple opportunities for hands-on experiences and student-inquiry based lessons to help them achieve academic success and build a foundation for all future learning.
My Project
Building strong math and science skills in early childhood education will provide a foundation all children need to succeed in elementary school and beyond. These materials will help engage my students into learning number identification, counting, sorting, addition and scientific inquiry. Also, these materials will provide multiple opportunities for strengthening fine motor skills. Many of my students are English language learners and need the opportunity to learn and explore through engaging and motivating materials.
Early learning of numbers and scientific exploration set the building blocks for children's entire academic career.
My children are very hands-on learners and learn best when doing. These materials would give all my students a chance to engage in more interactive learning and scientific inquiry. The Life Cycle Science Viewers and the Specimen Viewers will provide my students the opportunity to make observations, engage in focused exploration, draw conclusions, and share ideas with others. Scoop a Bug and the Insect/Spider Magnetic Activity will sharpen sorting skills and provide opportunities for students to compare and contrast through observations. The Butterfly and Bug counters will help my students sort objects by size, shape and color. My students can practice and learn addition with the Picnic and Frogs Counting Boxes. The Ladybug Number Match will be used for counting and number recognition and the Simple Addition Learning Center for Adding. These are all basic skills needed to ensure kindergarten readiness for my students. We also like to provide fun games that encourage turn taking and working together. The Bugs Floor Puzzle and the Honeybee Tree Game will help promote opportunities for my students to strengthen their social skills with others as well as fine motor skills.
Please help build the path to a fun and meaningful learning adventure for my students.
