Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach transitional Kindergarten in a suburb of Los Angeles. My school is located in a low-income area. Most of the families my school services speak English as a second language. My students are in the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. This program will help them develop their brains and physical skills along with their social and emotional skills. This will help them be better prepared for the academic rigors in the years ahead.

For many of my students, this is the first year they have ever been in school.

My students have always been eager to learn and love to ask questions about the world around them.

My Project

A wireless document camera will allow me to model fine motor skills by documenting my movements and projecting them onto the board.

The document camera will help all of the children see books that I read to them.

I can place a book under the document camera and the image of the book will be project onto the classroom interactive white board. They can see the pictures of the story and watch as I track the words with my finger. This will help the children learn that reading directionality and concepts of print.

Finally, the children will be able to use the document camera to present projects that they have created. They can also use the document camera to project activities they are participating in. With the document camera being wireless, this allows for the document camera to move wherever the children are working.
