My Project

Special need students can struggle to manage their big feelings. It can be overwhelming for those little humans to be in a new environment and they can easily feel overstimulated by sounds, lights, people and smells. Most of my students need support and help to self regulate and they need us therapists and teachers to try different tools with them to see what works best with them. A tent, some weighted animals, some sensory tubes, a vibrating cushion and therapeutic sand will help create a calming area in our therapy room by reducing the stimuli happening in the environment.

Each student is different so we need to use different approaches.

Help me support them and help them manage their emotions. Self regulation is necessary to have access to all learning experiences offered in school. When my students’ hearts and brains are calm and ready, they can learn and grow to their maximum potential!
