Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a struggling, high-needs, urban neighborhood in New York City. Our school community is a warm, nurturing environment and the children enjoy coming to school.

The parents of our students are working hard to make better lives for their families and desire a stellar education for their children.

My little ones are curious, funny, imaginative, loving, creative, honest, and cute. The community is diverse and considerably low income. The children I teach are all eager to learn and are enthusiastic. My classroom is comprised of children who have different abilities.

My Project

The seeds of scientific intrigue must be planted early so that students encounter the laws of nature and can make some sense out of it. I need materials that will enormously enrich my teaching and give my students experiences that go considerably beyond the picture, pencil and paper activities.

Our parents value education and our administrators and teachers are all working hard to give our students a quality education.

However, certain gaps exist in schools across America. We lack many resources and hope you can help us. My main goal in pre-k is to keep the children engaged and interested in learning. If I can keep the children engaged, I believe I will keep their interest which will lead to a strong foundation in early childhood science. I would like to give my young students the kind of experiences that will encourage them to become lifelong learners. A strong science program in the early grades can lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning in exploration and discovery.

I am requesting snap circuits for our young engineers to assemble different electronic circuit projects with various electronic parts. For example, the children will be able to construct working models of a photo sensor, a flashing light, and an adjustable-volume siren! All parts click together and support a vigorous STEM/ steam educational curriculum. The children will learn by doing!! I am also requesting dinosaur eggs for the children to dig and discover unique dinosaurs. They will feel like real paleontologists! Lastly, I am requesting a dinosaur building kit which will improve problem solving strategies, hand eye coordination, and motor skills. It will make learning a blast!

Children are so curious and eager to learn. Please consider funding us.
