Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a group of 20 Preschool Special Education Support Teachers (PSEST) who work with 155-200 Preschool students who receive Special Education services in our school district. We travel throughout our district (and 2 near by reservations) to provide these services in both preschool settings. Because we are not part of a specific school it is difficult to get supplies funded by our district. This means that many of our teachers are spending their personal money on supplies to help their students be successful. We do this because we care about our kids, but with your support we can do more!

Our students might have little bodies, but they have big emotions and big needs.

These supplies will help us to teach our students emotions and pre-academic skills in a fun and educational way!

The lamination pockets allow us to make sturdy visuals for our students so that they can communicate their needs as well as understand the expectations of the classrooms they are in. The visual timers will assist our students (and their general ed teachers) with easier transitions from one activity to another. The oral motor necklaces give our students a socially appropriate and safe way to get some much needed sensory input. The rest of our supplies will allow us to teach these skills in a fun, but still educational, way!
