Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 18 fun and creative kindergarten students in a high need community. My school is a Title I school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch. This means a lot of hands-on experiences are few and far between for my students.

Most of my students come to school with no experience of school. Most do not attend preschool. A lot of them do not know how to hold a pencil correctly, much less know how to color, cut with scissors, and use glue appropriately. Most of my students do bring what I call essential supplies to begin kindergarten, but we are lacking some extras. I want to give my students as many fun and creative art experiences as I can in different ways. They need this exposure to reach their creative potential. These creative little minds will become successful and smart in their education careers.

That is where you come in! I need 8 sets of watercolors, some good watercolor brushes, watercolor crayons, peel and stick mirror sheets, and bingo dotters. I also am requesting lacing string to develop fine motor skills. I hope to be able to give my kids other experiences besides using crayons all the time. They love to paint when we get the opportunity.

I want to thank you for your time in reading my proposal. It would be a blessing for my students to receive the gift of learning. These materials will help me be a better teacher so that I can help my students become all they can be!
