Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an urban Title 1, Pre-K through 8th grade school of approximately 650 students. My students come from many different cultural back grounds and are enthusiastic learners! My goal is to provide students with diverse artistic experiences in the years that I teach them which is from Pre-K through 3rd grade.

In my early learning art classes, the students' artwork is process oriented and self-driven, with their own imaginations lighting the way.

My Pre-K students are excited to play with color, shape, movement, and imagery. Getting to know a new art material is one of these early learners favorite parts of being in school and something that keeps them engaged and excited about learning.

My Project

I'm reaching out beyond the walls of the school in search of support for purchasing art supplies. I aim to get as many different types in the hands of my students to ensure their experience in art class is a broad and diverse one. The budget for schools in my district has been drastically cut leaving no funding for art supplies.

My students deserve to see more than crayons and printer paper as they explore the world of artistic expression, from basic mark-making all the way to meaning-making.

This shopping list will provide paint, paper to paint on, and modeling material, multiple drawing materials, glue, and colored construction paper!
