Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There's never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. My students need instructional materials to foster multicultural, diversity, differing abilities and pro-social awareness.

My Project

With these books I will have the opportunity to help my students gain a better understanding of themselves, family members and others. They will be expose to literature that will help them reflect on the diverse groups of people in the world, in their communities and overall world around them.

My students will learn to respect not only their own cultural group, but also the cultural groups of others.

The books Round Is a Tortilla, I Have a Dream (Book and CD) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , Skin You Live In, Dumpling Soup, Good People Everywhere, and Everybody Cooks Rice are all titles that have the potential to help my students learn and develop respect and empathy as they learn about multiple perspectives and others' experiences. My students with differing abilities need the Gears Building Set to stimulate their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
