Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to make learning interesting for a class filled with 21 curious and energetic first graders? It is no easy task when the materials available are very limited, but my students are motivated and determined to be fluent readers by the end of first grade.

Our district is facing a financial crisis for which my students are paying by lacking essential educational resources.

These resources would undoubtedly enhance their learning experience. My first graders are enthusiastic, eager, and have a positive attitude towards learning regardless of the educational challenges they face. Our school is equipped with the basic educational resources, however this is not enough to provide a fun and engaging learning experience for all my students.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will help meet my students' academic needs by allowing me to differentiate instruction. The books will be used in small groups for reading fluency, reading comprehension, and literary discussions. The titles are of interest to all the students in my classroom and will be enjoyed for many years to come.

When I think about my students and their many individual academic needs, I can't help but think of the tremendous impact these materials will have on them.

The materials I am requesting will help meet my students' different academic needs by allowing me to differentiate instruction in a small group setting.
