"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." -Walt Disney
I see proof of this everyday in my classroom as I read aloud to my students. The right book can launch my students even deeper into the world of reading.
I teach 4th grade ESL students in San Antonio, Texas.
I have a very wide range of abilities in my classroom based on how many years they have been in the country. They come from extremely diverse cultural, familial, and economic backgrounds. Overall, they work very hard to learn the language and advance their education.
My Project
These books will be used in Literature Circles during reading time. They will allow the students to choose their book title based on their reading interests and reading level.
My students will love these titles, and that will help them focus on and understand the material better. These titles are also from common authors, opening a world of additional titles for my students.
"The only books that influence us are those for which we are ready, and which have gone a little farther down our particular path than we have yet got ourselves." -E.M.
