My Students

During our guided reading lessons, students get to go to centers. Many centers are teacher made. I would like to add a listening center to my class. I know this would motivate students and it will expose them to books that they cannot read themselves.

My school is a safe haven for many of our kids.

School is something they look forward to. They look at school as a hot meal, socialization, and warmth from school staff. We provide services that go outside of "teaching". I want to see that extra wide smile on my students as they are excited for guided reading/centers.

My Project

We are requesting a comfy couch and a listening center. My students will have a designated area for a listening center. The local library has books on cd that I can use for the students. Guided reading/centers happen everyday for 35 minutes. This would give every one of my students an opportunity to use the listening center.

I am projecting to raise my Teacher's College Reading Assessment scores for my students by 2 or more levels within a 6 week period.

That includes targeting my struggling readers and non-readers.
