A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our school community contains a diverse array of students whose backgrounds and needs are as unique as the families and cultures that proudly support them. We are a school community that is extremely rich in pride, strong in support, and full of a passion to succeed.
As our school community continues to become more diverse, our classroom continues to be a place where a high degree of emphasis is placed on developing the capabilities to support the academic, social-emotional, and familial needs of all students so that engaging, innovative, and relevant learning takes place.
Each year, I am so proud of the maturity that my students develop when it comes to their learning and personal growth as young adults. It is truly a passion of mine to offer the supplies, resources, and technology that will allow my students to gain the knowledge, as well as practice the skills, needed for success in their future college and career journeys.
I remain thankful for the support of citizen donors as well as corporate sponsors/foundations who continue to impact our classroom and transform it in inspiring ways!
My Project
We all rely on routines for they lend a sense of normalcy to our everyday lives. On any given day, we know what to expect, how the day will pretty much proceed, and are able to anticipate its outcome; routines bring comfort. Hurricane Irma disrupted the routines of millions of people in the state of Florida and, for our classroom/school/district, it took away seven (7) important instructional/learning days. Not only that, the effects on many of our students' and teachers' personal lives due to power outages, flooding, etc. undoubtedly placed undue burdens on an already frustrating and demoralizing situation. It certainly disrupted the routine of our 1st-semester in school and we would like to start off the 2nd-semester in a rejuvenating and hopeful manner.
We would like to help our school kick-off our post-Irma 2nd-semester in an exciting manner throughout "Literacy Week 2018" by handing out complimentary personal copies of contemporary, relevant, and engaging books!
Literacy Week in Florida runs from January 22-26, 2018 and is a fun-filled week with many activities and opportunities for students and teachers to celebrate everything and anything related to literature. The ability to offer brand-new, relevant, and awesomely engaging books during Literacy Week would certainly be a powerful component to "Literacy Week 2018" and help our school kick-off the 2nd-semester right and move beyond the disruptions left by Hurricane Irma. Thank you to PwC Charitable Foundations, DonorsChoose.org, and our many supporters for your continued help in transforming our classroom and school community with this tremendous match-offer! :)
